Recently I came across a plugin that allows you to display the latest posts of any arbitrary data type in the widget. Also, this plugin can work with standard data types., such as pages, recordings and even media files.

The plugin has a number of output settings:

• You can set the number of messages to be displayed;
• the plugin can display records, sorting by author, publication date, date of change, header, arbitrarily;
• the plugin can also display parent posts or pages, display the most commented;
• can do reverse sorting of output records;
• display a "custom" message, if there are no records;
• add a special custom class for the entry;
• output as post title, and her thumbnail;
• can display the date and a short description of the entry;
• and also there is a possibility filter entries in the widget for individual taxonomies (labels, headings or arbitrary).

Quite an impressive list for such a simple plugin that displays a widget in one of the sidebars on your site..
