Advanced Access Manager и NextGEN gallery
To differentiate user rights, I liked two plugins: Adminize и Advanced Access Manager.
Let me talk about Advanced Access Manager.
The advantage of this plugin is its simplicity and the fact that it can create new roles, but it also has disadvantages. The plugin has a built-in caching system and there may be problems when working with some plugins.
I got a problem when I after setting up permissions for users of the client site, created on wordpress, installed one of the most popular galleries NextGEN gallery. There were only two items on the menu. Roles and Reset / Uninstall. Based on what I had, I started digging on the wordpress.org forum on access rights. By 20 minutes I got a response from the plugin developer.
Solving the problem with NextGEN gallery
To solve the problem, you need to enter the plugin settings Advanced Access Manager and in tab ConfigPress enter caching = “false”.
Everything turned out to be simple, the cache was cleared and all items appeared in the gallery section.

Also as an option, if it doesn't help, you can try to deactivate both plugins and activate NextGEN gallery first and only then Advanced Access Manager.
