The most common causes of viruses on WordPress:

• Pure wordpress installed, without additional plugins and security codes, besides, the passwords were very weak;
• low-quality or incorrectly configured hosting;
• a plug-in with a hole is installed or a backup of the site is hosted in the public domain;
• downloaded a free template that was already pre-infected.

There are other reasons for infection of the site and in fact 100% no one can protect, but there are many things that can be done to protect the site.

In the vast majority of cases, it is enough to protect:

• qualitatively and manually update the wordpress site;
• manually update all plugins and check them for vulnerabilities;
• crawl the site using different crawlers, regular expressions and other methods for threats;
• add captcha to login, registration, authorization, comments, etc.. d.;
• hide the ability to determine the login and brute force password;
• prevent scripts from being loaded into specific folders;
• set permissions on folders and files;
• check for useragent;
• set new complex passwords;
• avoid default usernames and replace default usernames with new ones;
• change database prefix;
• disable CMS detection at least partially;
• prevent execution and loading of scripts from media download folders;
• prevent editing theme files and plugins from the admin panel;
• limit the number of incorrect attempts from one login.
